Bandwidth-sharing networks in overload
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the present talk we focus on α-fair bandwidth-sharing networks where the load on one or several of the links exceeds the capacity. In order to characterize the overload behavior, we examine the fluid limit, which emerges from a suitably scaled version of the number of flows of the various classes. We prove that the fluid limit is a linear function of time, and derive a fixed-point equation for the corresponding asymptotic growth rates. It is further shown that the fixed-point solution is also a solution to a related strictly concave optimization problem, and hence unique. We use the fixed-point equation to investigate the impact of the traffic intensities and the variability of the flow sizes on the asymptotic growth rates.

With recent advances in power-electronics, inverter-based microgrids are gaining great attention. Droop control is one of the main methods to share the real and reactive power among distributed energy resources (DERs) in an islanded microgrids. Due to different characteristics of microgrid feeders, reactive power sharing is not fully accurate and consequently, some DERs may face overload. To ad...
متن کاملDQDB: An Overload Cycle Analysis of Generalized Bandwidth Balancing with Strict Priority
This paper uses a state-space approach and an analysis of overload cycle constraints to show that a simple extension of Generalized Bandwidth Balancing (GBWB), can be used to strictly enforce non-premptive priorities. The extension associates a Bandwidth Balancing Machine and counter with each queue access machine rather than with the node in order to implement priorities. The entire DQDB netwo...
متن کاملBuilding low-diameter peer-to-peer networks
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) computing has emerged as a significant paradigm for providing distributed services, in particular search and data sharing. Current P2P networks (e.g., Gnutella) are constructed by participants following their own uncoordinated (and often whimsical) protocols; they consequently suffer from frequent network overload and partitioning into disconnected pieces separated by choke p...
